Anyone considering giving Bowen a go or still sitting on the fence, wait no longer. This is my story having farmed for nearly 30 years. My back was in a state having had one period of 2 years' agony during this time. In sciatic pain, which was so severe i could not stand still for long in one place, i broke out in a cold sweat. Fine if i kept moving but who wishes to live in perpetual motion!!

Anyhow having got through that, I have since had a very sensitive back with intermittent issues in varying levels of pain. Eventualy I bump into this wonderful therapist, Sue Mansfield. Somewhat dubious of yet another "miracle cure" well now I have had to eat my words. After several sessions I have just finished 1000-miles riding on a severe offroad motorcycle trip which entailed many lumps and bumps. Not a twitch from my previously ultra-sensitive back, where previously a simple wrong move would set the problem off. So for something that conventional medicine could only offer masking pain relief, I would be happy to state it has been ultimately cured by Sue's Bowen practice. I absolutely highly recommend you give it a go.

I just wanted to let you know that after getting Bowen treatment from Sue, my knee injury appears to have recovered drastically and I am now playing hockey again :)

Chantelle from Kingskerswell - March 2010

I am a 17 year old girl and I have always been active but in February (2010) I did an 80km walk in 24hrs and in doing so badly pulled a tendon in the back of my knee preventing me from being able to straighten the knee initially or be able to walk for a few days.

Unfortunately I had a 20 mile multi-terrain run 3 weeks after the last event and was gutted at the thought of not being able to do it, but I had attempted running a few times to do some training and it hurt immediately. Sue did a number of moves around the back of my knee and leg and I was sufficiently surprised by the sudden rate of recovery that I decided I would enter the race after all.

I was astounded by absolutely no pain on the event when I hadn't been able to run 100m the previous weekend, and have had many different methods of Physio etc. for other sporting and overuse injuries, none of which have been close to being as effective as this!

Highly recommended!

Brad from Exmouth - December 2009

When I started seeing Sue for Bowen treatment, I was dealing with old emotions and hurt from a divorce and serving overseas... and looking for help in that respect.

Throughout the course of the treatments I have become aware of old injuries (many sustained during my career in the Royal Marines) which then diminished further

The benefits? Well I feel much more relaxed, open, old tensions in my feet, back.. infact all over my body have subsided, I have cried and gained a lot of insight to myself in no small part due to Sue's warm and caring nature - I felt safe.

My friends are mentioning how much easier it is to get on with me - how relaxed and comfortable in my skin I am now, my body feels younger - I feel younger where as before I was feeling old before my time.

I have recommended Sue to pretty much all of my friends - I think the treatment is revolutionary, if anyone mentions injuries, aches or pains - I pass her number over straight away!

Thankyou Sue - you've helped more than I can express in words, Brad.

Wendy from Brixham - November 2009

Hi Sue,

Thank you for the Bowen treatment you have been giving me. I have certainly noticed a difference in my mobility virtually from the first session. I am still amazed how much can be achieved by such small movements. Apart from the physical improvement in my back and shoulder, I have also felt a beneficial effect on an emotional level too as it has facilitated some form of release for me which was an unexpected bonus!

Best wishes

Wendy

Dave from Kingsteignton - November 2009

Dear Sue,

Just a quick thank you for the Bowen treatments that you have been giving me over the past six weeks.

I have found myself in a very peaceful and calm place after four years of emotional trauma, since a messy divorce with my wife and the difficulties surrounding agreement on contact arrangements with my four children.

Obviously I would love to be in a position where my Diabetes would disappear, but I am pretty realistic about that. I have been keeping a good eye on my sugar levels as you discussed with me.

I have however found some good results not only with regard to my emotional wellbeing, but also physically I have had improvement with my joint pain. I normally would suffer from inflammation in my elbows due to the nature of my work and constant loaded use of my arms climbing trees. I have actually realised that the problem has not arisen recently and have not needed to consider any cortisone injections this winter.

I have also noticed that my patience threshold has increased which is great.

Kind Regards,

Dave.

Georgina from Torquay - October 2009

Hi Sue,

I wanted to say thank you for the Bowen.

The first week I experienced muscle spasms and temperature changes both while the Bowen was taking place and in the days following.

Since then, and since the 2nd and 3rd appointment, I have been able to reach a much deeper level of relaxation.

I do believe it has helped me to clear out some emotional baggage that was in my life, that really shouldn't have been there. I also believe that it has made me strong enough to go through with the decisions I made and as a result, feel much more positive about the future.

And I got a good night sleep last night!!!

So thank you for you time and help. Look forward to some more !!

Much love

Georgina

xx

Sue Mansfield - My own healing experience - Spring 2009

As published in : Bowen Association UK Newsletter, Winter 2009, Issue Number 46

My name is Sue and I am a 42 year old lady, and Bowen has changed my life.

Seven years ago I was a fit and healthy wife, mother of two children and full time long haul stewardess for British Airways. The world was literally my oyster.

One early morning on board a 747 aircraft rapidly approaching Heathrow airport after returning from a trip to Miami, I slipped on some ice on the galley floor in the plane. With over 250 passengers strapped into their seats immediately in front of me I was more concerned about my dignity and keeping my skirt down than breaking my fall by grabbing something. I almost did the splits and simultaneously fell back wards, hit something which sent me upright and then I landed 'bang' on my coccyx. Two colleagues found me on the floor. Lifted me, sat me into my crew seat and strapped me in as we landed.

I was off work for three months, was unable to do practically anything for a month, including lifting a kettle of water to make a cup of tea, so you can imagine what else was impossible. After two weeks of having my pelvis manipulated every other day I wore a Pelvis brace for two months. I then progressed to a back brace to support me and then returned to work on restricted duties.

I had constant chiropractic treatments and acupuncture sessions. I took pain killers constantly. Slowly over the coming year I started to regain some of my previous activities.

Then to my complete distress, one year, one month and one day after my accident at work, I had a car accident which involved two impacts into the rear of my car. Suddenly all that I had achieved was wiped out in those few moments.

Because of my inability to live my life to active degree I had prior to the accidents, I lost my marriage of 22 years, I lost my career as a stewardess which I had done for 16 years, I became depressed, I put on three stone in weight.

I became desperate to regain something of who I was. I set out on a mission. I saw orthopedic surgeons, osteopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists, spiritual healers, reflexologists, I tried every thing I could because I knew that somewhere out there was something that would be able to help me. I decided to give myself another year looking in the UK and then I decided that I would fly to South America to see a gentleman called 'John of God' who is deemed to perform miracles. But I didnt need him, my miracle came in the way of a lady called Jean Moore, a lovely delightful lady that I was recommended to by a friend.

Jean Moore is a Bowen Technique therapist based in a small village near Plymouth in Devon. I first saw her in January of this year. My experience of healing which she facilitated through her Bowen was nothing less than absolutely astounding to me and the effects on my life.

I probably wasnt the easiest of her patients, but after nine sessions I would say that I am totally healed. I used to sleep 3/4 of each day and live off pain killers and constantly use a TENS unit. I now am pain free and have lost over two stone of the weight I had gained. I have my life back. THANK YOU .....JEAN MOORE AND BOWEN. :)

Bowen inspired me so much that I decided that I would like to be able to facilitate other peoples healing process in order that they may be free of the constant pain they may experience due to illness or injury.

I have just completed my fourth module with Nicola Hok in Hammersmith which is wonderful, but better than that. I recently had a friend visit me. Half an hour before she was due to leave her four year old daughter climbed onto her left thigh and she cried out in pain and said to her daughter, that she knew she had a very painful lump there and couldnt do that. I asked her about it and she said that she had fallen off her bicycle six months earlier and had a very painful lump. She had been to doctors and they couldnt give her a reason for it. I suggested to her that I do a tiny bit of Bowen before she went on her way to her sisters. I made moves 1 & 2 (the bottom stoppers) and then left the room for about twelve minutes. When I returned I helped her up and got her to set her feet down together.

I had this text from her the following day :

Thanks so much for having us. Also the painful lump on my thigh has GONE! See you soon. x

You have no idea, how wonderful I feel about having been able to facilitate her body to self heal.

Bowen is a wonderful thing and I hope that I can share its possibilities with as many people as possible, and those people will be able to pass that on to those they know. Imagine a world where we automatically understand that we do not necessarily need man made medicine to relieve our pain and suffering.

Kind regards Sue Mansfield
